I met Mary a year ago when she agreed to sell me her Ikea dresser off of Craigslist.
When I first moved to Chapel Hill, I had (a fiance, an infested apartment, and one naughty new kitty) no furniture, and I felt determined that furnishing my new place was one essential part to feeling settled in North Carolina. Who would have guessed that sharing common ties to the Midwest (Mary grew up in Michigan, just a hop away from my small town in Ohio) and sending one enthusiastic email to a Craigslist seller would not only get me my first nifty piece of furniture, but also connect me with the generous, beautiful woman that is Mary. I can say, whole heartedly, Mary’s kindness and friendship have had much more to do with Chapel Hill feeling like home, not the acquisition of my new, used Ikea dresser.
It was a joy to photograph Mary and Enrique’s wedding. The ceremony was held at the Duke Gardens in Durham, and since Enrique’s family traveled all the way from Honduras to see the two married, the vows were spoken in both Spanish and English. Afterward, we headed over to the King’s Daughters Inn, and I had just the best time meeting and getting to know M + E’s family and friends.
I cannot say enough about M + E’s commitment to one another. Congratulations you two–I am so blessed by our friendship and am so happy for your future together!

AND CAN I JUST SAY, the food (We Cook For You!!!) was some of the most delicious food I have eaten at a wedding, EVER–cuban sandwiches, cheese enchiladas, these little potato puffs with cilantro on top which tasted like heaven…a yummy strawberry cake from the Madhatter Bakeshop and Cafe combined with some local brews…it was all very, very DELICIOUS.
